Job summary

Copello Global is partnering with a leading defence electronics organisation to recruit an Embedded Software Engineer. You will design and develop embedded software in C/C++, maintain Embedded Linux and RTOS applications, and support board bring‑up and system integration.

You will work on secure software solutions, investigate issues via root cause analysis, and document technical work while collaborating with cross‑functional teams on cutting‑edge high‑performance systems.

Qualifications

• Experience designing and developing embedded software in professional environments.
• Strong knowledge of C/C++ and real-time systems is essential.
• Familiarity with embedded Linux, Yocto and debugging tools required.

This is an exciting opportunity to work on the development of advanced embedded solutions for cutting-edge, high-performance systems, contributing to innovative technologies from concept through to production alongside a multidisciplinary team of experts.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop embedded software using C/C++.
• Develop and maintain Embedded Linux and RTOS applications.
• Support board bring-up, debugging and system integration activities.
• Develop communication protocols and networking interfaces.
• Design secure software solutions and support system hardening.
• Investigate and resolve software issues through root cause analysis.
• Produce technical documentation and work closely with cross-functional engineering teams.

Skills & Experience

• Strong knowledge of C/C++ and real-time embedded systems.
• Experience with Yocto, RTOS or bare-metal development.
• Familiarity with networking protocols (TCP/IP, Ethernet, CAN, SPI, I2C, UART).
• Experience debugging embedded systems using tools such as GDB, oscilloscopes and logic analysers.
• Knowledge of secure communications and embedded software architecture.
• Python, Zephyr OS, Docker, Kubernetes or Linux kernel experience would be advantageous.
