Job summary

Zenovo is seeking an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to join our multi-disciplinary team in Edinburgh on a hybrid basis. You will design, implement, and test embedded software across microcontrollers, microprocessors and Linux-based systems, working closely with hardware engineers.

You should have a degree in CS or EE, 5+ years in embedded software, strong C/C++, familiarity with Yocto, Linux kernel/Drivers/BSPs, UART/SPI/I2C/Ethernet, and hands-on debugging.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a related discipline.
• 5+ years' experience in embedded software development.
• Strong proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems.
• Hands-on experience developing embedded software for microcontrollers and/or microprocessors.
• Strong experience with embedded Linux, including kernel, Bootloaders, Device drivers, BSPs, and User interface engines
• Familiarity with Linux build systems such as Yocto.
• Good understanding of digital and analogue circuits and hardware principles.
• Experience using hardware debugging tools such as oscilloscopes and logic analysers.
• Experience with hardware communication protocols including UART, SPI, I2C and Ethernet.
• Understanding of TCP/IP and UDP network protocols.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as within a small, collaborative engineering team.

Responsibilities

• Develop software supporting TCP/IP and UDP network protocols.
• Apply an understanding of basic network security concepts to embedded systems.
