Job summary

Avanti in the United Kingdom is seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to own and deliver embedded software on ARM/SoC platforms, bridging between ARM processors, FPGA logic and measurement systems.

You will work on embedded Linux in C/C++, driver development, high-speed data acquisition, and methods for processor-to-FPGA integration, MATLAB/Python algorithm porting, and HW/SW co-design.

Qualifications

• Strong commercial experience with embedded Linux, C/C++ and ARM-based systems.
• Experience in low-level hardware/software integration and FPGA-connected systems.
• Familiarity with MATLAB or Python for algorithm adaptation is valued.

Responsibilities

• Develop embedded Linux software in C/C++ for ARM/SoC platforms.
• Implement processor-to-FPGA integration and manage high-speed data paths.
• Create and maintain drivers, interrupt handling and memory-mapped I/O.
• Port MATLAB/Python algorithms into embedded C/C++ and perform DSP tasks.

We're recruiting a Senior Embedded Software Engineer for a specialist technology company developing advanced sensing and measurement systems.

This is a senior, hands‑on role with significant technical ownership. You'll work on SoC‑FPGA platforms, developing the embedded software that sits between ARM processors, FPGA programmable logic and complex measurement systems.

The Role

• Embedded Linux development in C/C++
• ARM / SoC development
• Processor-to-FPGA integration
• AXI, DMA, interrupts and memory-mapped I/O
• Low-level interfaces and drivers
• High-speed data acquisition and processing
• Porting MATLAB/Python algorithms into embedded C/C++
• Signal processing and hardware/software co-design

What We're Looking For

Strong commercial experience with:

• Embedded Linux, ideally PetaLinux or Yocto
• C/C++
• ARM-based embedded systems
• Low-level hardware/software integration
• FPGA-connected systems

Experience with Zynq UltraScale+, signal processing, device drivers, Edge AI or industrial/test-and-measurement systems would be particularly valuable.
