Job summary

Omegro is seeking a Senior Embedded Linux & Vision AI Engineer to lead development of Trakm8’s embedded Linux device platforms and AI-powered cameras, taking prototypes to production in customer fleets. The role blends BSP/kernel/build systems with deployment of computer vision models on edge hardware.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of embedded Linux development experience: kernel, drivers, BSP work and build systems (Yocto or Buildroot)
• Strong C and C++ skills, with Python for tooling, testing and ML workflows
• Proven experience deploying and optimising ML/computer vision models on edge hardware, including quantisation and hardware acceleration
• Experience with computer vision frameworks and models (OpenCV, YOLO-class detectors)
• Experience with camera subsystems and pipelines (V4L2, ISP tuning, MIPI-CSI)
• Track record of taking embedded products from prototype to production and field deployment
• Ability to define and work to measurable accuracy, performance and power targets
• Clear communicator, able to explain complex technical trade-offs to technical and non-technical audiences

Responsibilities

• Own the embedded Linux platform for camera and device products: BSP maintenance, kernel and driver work, and build systems (Yocto or Buildroot)
• Design and maintain robust OTA update, provisioning and device management mechanisms
• Optimise boot time, power management and system reliability for vehicle-mounted, battery-conscious devices
• Integrate, optimise and deploy computer vision models on edge hardware (TensorFlow Lite, ONNX Runtime), including quantisation and hardware acceleration
• Develop and tune the camera pipeline (V4L2, ISP configuration) for automotive imaging conditions
• Define and track accuracy and performance metrics for vision features, and improve them release on release
• Take camera and device products from prototype through field trials to production release
• Support certification, type approval and manufacturing test for new devices
• Work with hardware, cloud and platform teams to deliver complete end-to-end solutions
• Implement secure boot, signed updates and device hardening in line with UN R155/R156 requirements
• Establish automated testing and CI for firmware images and model updates
• Ensure releases meet reliability, safety and regulatory expectations for automotive devices
• Set standards and documented practices for embedded Linux and vision AI development
• Mentor and develop other engineers in the team, sharing knowledge deliberately to remove single points of failure
• Contribute to technical strategy and roadmaps with the Devices Team Lead, Architecture function and CPTO
• Champion AI-assisted development tools and modern engineering practice
