Job summary

ALTEN in Crawley is seeking a Senior Embedded C++ Engineer to design, implement, and maintain real‑time software for high‑reliability communication systems. You will work on embedded platforms demanding robustness, security and deterministic performance, in a defence context.

The role requires 8+ years of experience, a degree in software or related field, and eligibility for UK SC clearance. On-site presence 4 days a week in Crawley is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Software Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent military background.
• Willing and eligible to obtain UK SC Security Clearance.
• Senior level with 8+ years of embedded C++ experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain embedded C++ software for real-time systems.
• Develop software for embedded communication modules, modems, RF components.
• Debug, optimize, and test across embedded targets for reliability.
• Create design specs, requirements, and documentation per regulated processes.
• Adhere to secure coding standards and governance practices.
• Collaborate with wider engineering teams on architecture reviews.
