Job summary

Thermoteknix Systems Ltd in Cambridge is seeking a Senior Electronics Engineer to take technical ownership of electronic hardware design across our product lines. You will lead the design, verification, and transfer to manufacture, collaborating with firmware, software, mechanical, and production teams.

The role is hands‑on and strategic, requiring strong analogue/digital/mixed‑signal design skills, PCB layout, and leadership of engineers. Applicants must have the right to work in the UK.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in Electronic or Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• Significant experience in electronic hardware design for high‑performance products.
• Strong analogue, digital, power and mixed‑signal circuit design knowledge.
• Experience taking designs from concept through prototype to production.
• Experience with schematic capture and PCB design processes.
• Able to debug complex electronic systems at board and system level.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of electronic hardware for new and existing products.
• Own electronic design activities from concept through production release.
• Design analogue, digital, power, video, embedded, and mixed‑signal electronics for rugged products.
• Produce schematics, calculations, PCB layout guidance, BOMs, and docs.
• Review designs to meet technical, manufacturability, and reliability requirements.
• Collaborate with firmware and software to integrate electronics with FPGA, MCU, sensors, displays, and interfaces.
• Lead prototype bring‑up, board debugging, system integration, and verification testing.
• Support EMC, environmental, reliability, and compliance tests.
• Contribute to architectural decisions for new products and improvements.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide design review input.
• Work with production and test teams to transfer into manufacture, including test procedures and documentation.
