Job summary

Lockheed Martin in Ampthill, Bedfordshire is seeking a Senior Electronics Engineer to design, develop and support mixed electrical/electronic solutions from concept through completion. You will define specifications and procedures for hardware design and manufacture, review supplier capabilities, and drive an integrated design architecture.

Qualifications

• Formal electronic qualification such as HNC/HND/BEng.
• Experience in electronics hardware design for harsh environments.
• Schematic capture, PCB layout and IPC awareness (Altium preferred).
• EMC awareness at product and PCB level.
• Awareness of Def-Stan / Mil standards, safety and quality processes.
• Experience with lab test equipment and JTAG design/debug.
• Experience with PLM tools (Windchill or similar).

Responsibilities

• Design and develop electrical/electronic circuitry including analogue, digital, microprocessor and FPGA techniques.
• Analyse, test and evaluate circuits and components.
• Produce technical documentation to support studies, requirements, compliance and test evidence.
• Define processes and specifications for hardware design and manufacture.
• Review supplier capabilities to support source selection.
• Support assembly, integration and test activities.

About The Role

To be based on-site at our Ampthill, Bedfordshire offices and reporting to the Design Team Lead, the Senior Electronics Engineer is expected to take responsibility for the design, development and support of mixed electrical / electronic solutions from concept to completion following a detailed phase-gate development process.

Define processes, specifications, and procedures that support the design and manufacture of the electrical / electronic hardware.

Provide technical review of supplier capabilities to facilitate source selection.

Facilitate the development of functional and physical design requirements to ensure complete integrated design architecture.

• Design and development of electrical / electronic circuitry (includes, analogue, digital, microprocessor, FPGA design techniques and power electronics).
• Analysis, test and evaluation of electronic / electrical circuits and components.
• Electrical/Electronic circuit simulation and analysis.
• The ability to produce technical documentation to support all activities, from trade studies, requirements documentation, compliance evidence and test documentation.
• Strong team player with good written and verbal communication skills.
• Self-managing, driven to get the results needed, great organisational skills.
• Flexibility in tasks undertaken.

Required Skills, Qualifications And Experience

• Proven Experience of Schematic Capture, PCB Layout and IPC awareness (Preferably Altium).

• Ability to support and manage aspects of Assembly, Integration and Test.
• Experience of working with lab test equipment, JTAG design and debug of electronic circuits.
• Experience of Windchill or other Product Lifecycle Management tool.
