Job summary

Tata Technologies in Warwick is seeking a Senior Test Execution Engineer to join our Embedded Systems Solutions team. You will lead HIL testing for Battery Management Systems and drive verification across components and boards.

The role requires hands-on testing, issue reproduction, and collaboration with BMS software, systems, and safety engineers to deliver robust, compliant solutions.

Qualifications

• Previous experience with manual and automated test execution and development.
• Familiarity with requirements capture and test case generation to validate requirements.
• Knowledge of automotive networks (CAN, FlexRay, LIN, A2B, MOST).
• Experience with HIL testing and test environments.

Responsibilities

• Execute HIL test cases for Battery Management Systems (BMS) covering functional, safety, and diagnostic requirements.
• Operate and manage BMS HIL test rigs, including ECU flashing, configuration, and test environment setup.
• Normal operation, Fault injection, Safety and protection events and degraded and boundary conditions.
• Run automated and manual HIL test suites and ensure correct sequencing and execution.
• Trigger and validate fault handling, diagnostics, and recovery strategies.
• Log, analyse, and document test results, anomalies, and failures.
• Raise, track, and manage defects/issues in test management or ALM tools.
• Support regression testing following software or calibration updates.
• Work closely with BMS software, systems, and safety engineers to reproduce issues and support RCA.
• Prepare and maintain test execution reports, including pass/fail status and traceability to requirements.

Our Embedded Systems Solutions department (ESS) encompasses all activities outlined under the Automotive SPICE (ASPICE) process framework, including systems engineering, software engineering, coding, and all levels of functional testing. Beyond core development, ESS also integrates critical supporting processes such as project management, risk assessment, functional safety, and cybersecurity, ensuring compliance with ASPICE standards and delivering reliable, secure, and high-quality embedded systems & solutions.

The Role

The successful applicant for this position will joinourEEintegrationteam to work on various customer projects. The role also leads bring up and troubleshooting of product issues throughout the lifecycle; leads associated test verification and validation activities at the component and board levels, including development of testing equipment and execution of test cases. A successful candidate will be highly motivated, well versed in the state-of-the art, and capable of driving design and execution through all development stages.

Area of Responsibility

• Cell voltage and temperature monitoring
• Current measurement validation
• Cell balancing logic
• Contactor control and protection logic
• Runautomated and manual HIL test suitesand ensure correct sequencing and execution.

• Trigger andvalidatefault handling, diagnostics, and recovery strategies.
• Log,analyse, and document test results, anomalies, and failures.

• MaintainHIL rig health, including basic troubleshooting of IO, sensors, and communication links.
• Ensure test execution aligns withdefined test plans, schedules, and quality standards.
• Strong understanding of electronic ECU's used in BEV batteryelectricvehicleand vehiclesubsystemsDiscussknowledge gaps and system requirements with system experts to enable thorough test coverage.

Knowledge / Experience

• Electrical, electronic, control systems orautomotive engineeringdegree 2:1 or above or equivalent qualification or experience.
• Previousexperience of manual and automated test execution and development.
• Familiarity with typical software and test development processes.
• Familiarity with requirements capture and requirement toolsets to generate test cases tovalidaterequirements.
• Experience with ETAS INCA / Vector CAN ape Tool experience or equivalent data acquisition experience
• Knowledge of automotive networks such as CAN,FlexRay, LIN, A2B, MOST etc.
• Experience of DSPACEor NIHiLhardware and software.
• Experience within the area of RequirementsModellingand Model Based System Engineering
• Excellent analytical skills and RCA., Root CauseAnalysis, virtual analysis tools
• Should have good knowledge and trained in ISO 26262.
• Experience in AUTOSAR Basic Software configuration.
