Job summary

Suir Engineering is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer for the UK Southern region, based in our Waterloo, London office. The role focuses on electrical control systems design, development, and maintenance for HV/LV schemes across the Southern England projects.

The ideal candidate will have a degree in Electrical Engineering and 2+ years of experience in HV energy and renewables, with strong communication and team-work skills. Travel to regional sites is required.

Qualifications

• Third level degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 2+ years’ experience as Electrical Project Engineer in HV Energy/Renewables.
• Excellent communication skills (oral & written).
• Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines.
• Ability to influence colleagues at all levels.
• Travel to sites in Southern region.

Responsibilities

• Develop and review schematic drawings and single line diagrams.
• Develop HV system studies: protection coordination, arc flash, load flow, fault level reports.
• Pre-commissioning and commissioning of GIS/AIS substations.
• Design for high and low voltage equipment and protection systems.
• Prepare technical specifications and enquiry documentation.
• Coordinate with clients, design team, and contractors on technical issues.
• Manage project queries and assist with site testing and handover.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Electrical Enginer to join Suir Engineering.The position will support our EP&R sector in the UK and will be based in our Waterloo, London office and would support projects in Southern England.

Overall Role Objective

The Senior Electrical Engineer is responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of electrical control systems and/or components to required specifications, focusing on economy, safety, reliability, quality and sustainability. The Senior Electrical Project Engineer will be involved in projects from the concept and detail of the design through to implementation, testing and handover.

What you will be doing?

• Development and review of schematic drawings and single line diagrams
• Developing HV system studies including protection coordination, arc flash, voltage regulation, load flow and fault level reports
• Pre-commissioning and commissioning of GIS and AIS Substations
• Complying with specific project safety requirements
• Detailed design covering all aspects of High & Low voltage equipment and control and protection systems
• Specification, selection and procurement of the range of equipment
• Preparation and interpretation of technical specifications and enquiry documentation
• Assist with the preparation of technical and contract documentation for issue.
• Monitor progress against the program and issue progress reports.
• Prepare method statements and risk assessments.
• Carry out document control, recording and transmitting information.
• Liaising and co-ordinating with clients, other members of the design team and contractors on technical issues.
• Managing all technical queries on site and assist project team in all site electrical engineering issues to include: the management, the planning, the testing and commissioning and the handover of all project systems.
• Prepare programs using MS project.
• Plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate program of assigned engineering work and projects.
• Assemble bid, approval, and construction issue drawing packages.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of the design and change if necessary.
• Estimate cost, reliability, and safety factors.
• Use computers extensively to produce and analyze designs.
• Supervise technicians and other engineers during development phase.
• Build, test and modify product prototypes.
• Any other reasonable and relevant duties as requested by your manager, necessary to meet the ongoing needs of the company.

Suitable Candidates must have a third level degree in Electrical Engineering with 2+ years’ experience working as an Electrical Project Engineer in the HV Energy and Renewable Sector.
