Job summary
SSE plc is recruiting a Senior Electrical Engineer to act as Technical Authority within Thermal Engineering and Asset Management. You will work with Thermal Operations, Commercial, Development and Business Development, and deputise for the Electrical Engineering Manager when required.
The role demands leadership, strong technical expertise in thermal power and grid operations, and excellent stakeholder communication.
Qualifications
- Chartered Engineer with extensive thermal power and gas storage electrical engineering experience.
- Strong technical skills and ability to navigate technical/commercial interfaces.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement at all levels.
- Calm, credible under pressure and able to provide technical guidance in challenging situations.
Responsibilities
- Provide recommendations for plant modifications and upgrades including MPPC activities and sign-offs.
- Offer specialist electrical engineering support to operational assets and go/no-go decisions for operation.
- Oversee electrical engineering projects from concept through commissioning and testing.
- Assess electrical systems design to ensure safety and reliable performance during design, construction and operation.
- Contribute to independent reviews of capital projects, RCAs and outage scope reviews, including final sign-offs.
