Edwards is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer - Sustaining SAQ to provide rapid, customer-driven electrical engineering support for live service issues. The role works within the 8D framework, performing urgent failure investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions in collaboration with Field Service teams.

The ideal candidate will contribute to the design and development of sub-assemblies, ensure documentation quality, and drive robust engineering dispositions under time-critical

Qualifications

• A good electrically biased engineering degree (or equivalent with 2 years industry experience).
• Experience in product development and introductions is an advantage.
• Knowledge of design for manufacture and design for assembly.

Your role

As a Senior Electrical Engineer - Sustaining SAQ, reporting to the Team Manager - Sustaining, this role provides reactive, customer-driven electrical engineering support through the Single Agenda for Quality (SAQ), addressing live service issues that require rapid engineering input. The role focuses on protecting customers, restoring product functionality, and maintaining confidence in equipment already deployed in the field by responding quickly and effectively to service escalations. The role operates primarily within the 8D problem-solving framework, undertaking urgent failure investigation and root cause analysis, defining engineering dispositions, concessions, and corrective actions, and working closely with Field Service teams to enable timely closure of actions, ensuring safe, compliant, and robust engineering solutions under time-critical conditions.

You will

• To design and develop modules/sub-assemblies of new products in accordance with Edwards’ Product Commercialisation Process (PCP)
• To verify that the designs meet the requirements and conform to the relevant design standards by calculation and/or testing as appropriate
• Accountable for the design and development of sub-assemblies of a product ensuring the specified quality and cost are achieved to the agreed task time scale
• Accountable for the detailed documentation of the design (models, drawings, design data, BOM, test data) ensuring all relevant information is recorded in a timely manner in accordance with TCF requirements

• A good Electricallybiased engineering degree (or other relevant engineering qualification with 2 years industry experience)
• Experience in product development and introductions is an advantage
• Knowledge of design for manufacture and design for assembly
• Experience in the use of a range of engineering materials and with several manufacturing methods/techniques
• 3D and 2D CAD skills (CATIA, Visio, AutoCAD and/or other drafting tools)
• An understanding of Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and system schematics
• Results Orientation - focus on delivering to project milestones and timescales
• Positive attitude and ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines
• Understand key technical deliverables and requirements and can report concisely to more senior engineers and the project manager

Job location

This role offers a hybrid working arrangement, allowing you to split your time between working remotely and being on-site at our office in Bristol, United Kingdom (GB).
