Job summary

ALTEN is seeking an experienced Commissioning Capability Engineer to lead the development and implementation of commissioning processes for complex projects within the Nuclear Sector. You will ensure that rules, tools and methods are in place during the detailed design stage, working closely with the design team to embed best practice from the outset.

Based in Manchester, this on-site role requires SC clearance and 5–10 years of experience in commissioning within regulated industries, plus

Qualifications

• Proven commissioning experience in nuclear, oil & gas, pharma, or other regulated industries.
• Ability to write commissioning plans at the detailed design stage.
• Experience delivering large, complex programmes of work.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• Familiarity with regulatory and export-control considerations.
• Ability to work within multidisciplinary teams and guide design teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead the commissioning capability function with robust processes, tools and guidance.
• Engage with the design team, providing feedback and best-practice guidelines.
• Develop and maintain commissioning assessment processes.
• Apply SQEP principles to commissioning guidance and oversight.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of commissioning processes and capability.
• Ensure compliance with export control and nationality restrictions.
• Support execution of large, complex programmes in a regulated environment.
