Job summary

Northcote M&E is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead building services designs from inception to completion on diverse schemes. You will drive electrical concepts, perform calculations, and produce tender drawings, often interfacing with clients and design teams.

The role offers either hybrid work from Buckinghamshire or full remote work for London-based candidates, with opportunities to shape projects across commercial, residential, healthcare and education sectors.

Qualifications

Solid UK experience in electrical building services design, ideally in a consultancy.
Proven ability to lead designs from concept to completion and represent the practice in meetings.
Strong design calculation skills for lighting, cable sizing, distribution and load calculations.
Experience with design software such as Amtech, DIALux or Relux.
Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or Revit; good knowledge of BS 7671 and UK standards.

Responsibilities

Attend client and design team briefings to establish project criteria.
Develop system options with the Director or Associate during design development.
Carry out space planning for plant rooms and primary services routes.
Prepare initial budget costings and monitor cost implications as designs develop.
Produce tender-quality drawings in AutoCAD / Revit in line with QA procedures.
Liaise with utility companies on record information and quotations for new supplies.
Obtain quotations and select switchgear, light fittings and other equipment.
Manage workload and coordinate with CAD / Revit and admin teams to meet deadlines.
