Job summary

Nottingham Trent University in Nottingham invites applications for a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead and maintain the university's electrical distribution and high voltage systems. You will oversee safe operation, drive improvements, and act as client liaison on installations and refurbishments, including feasibility, design, tendering and delivery.

The role requires hands-on leadership, mentoring Electric Technicians and ensuring compliance with UK regulations.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the safe, compliant and efficient operation of the university's electrical, distribution and generation systems via planned, reactive and long-term maintenance schemes.
• Take a hand-on lead role in the operation, maintenance and development of the university’s high voltage network, undertaking duties of Senior Authorised Person as required with respect to the university's HV systems, including switching schedules.
• Lead on the design, delivery and management of electrical installation and refurbishment works; act as client for professional consultants; include feasibility, briefs, specifications, detailed designs, cost estimates, budgets, tendering and delivery.
• Ensure current and new electrical systems comply with legislation including Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, Building Act 1984, Building Safety Act 2022, CDM 2015, Fire Safety Act 2021 and Electricity at Work Regulations 1989.
• Mentor and develop in-house Electrical Technicians; manage lighting and emergency lighting, on-site power generation and UPS, diagnose and rectify complex issues; oversee electrical minor works and projects.
