Job summary

Purosearch Ltd. in Edinburgh is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer or Senior Electrical Engineer to join a respected multidisciplinary engineering consultancy.

You will work on electrical building services design from concept to completion, in a hybrid/flexible pattern, delivering high-quality, sustainable solutions. The role offers exposure to prestigious projects, collaboration with mechanical engineers and architects, and opportunities for Chartered Engineer status.

Qualifications

• A degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
• Experience designing electrical building services within a consultancy.
• Knowledge of UK regulations, standards and best practice.
• Experience with AutoCAD and Revit is advantageous.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Interest in sustainable building design and low-carbon engineering.

Responsibilities

• Undertaking electrical building services design from concept through to completion.
• Designing lighting, power distribution, emergency lighting and related systems.
• Producing technical calculations, specifications, reports and design documentation.
• Collaborating with mechanical engineers, architects and other design professionals.
• Attending design meetings and liaising with clients and stakeholders.
• Ensuring designs meet UK standards, regulations and sustainability requirements.
• Supporting project delivery within timescales and budgets.
• Senior Engineers to take greater responsibility for delivery, client relationships and mentoring junior engineers.

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Electrical Engineer or Senior Electrical Engineer to join a highly respected, award-winning, multidisciplinary engineering consultancy in Edinburgh.

With a strong pipeline of projects and continued investment in its Edinburgh team, the business is looking to appoint talented Electrical Design Engineers who are passionate about engineering excellence, sustainability and developing their careers.

The Role

Key responsibilities will include:

• Undertaking electrical building services design from concept through to completion.
• Designing lighting, power distribution, emergency lighting and associated electrical systems.
• Producing technical calculations, specifications, reports and design documentation.
• Collaborating with mechanical engineers, architects and other design professionals.
• Attending design meetings and liaising with clients and project stakeholders.
• Ensuring designs meet relevant British Standards, building regulations and sustainability requirements.
• Supporting the delivery of projects to agreed timescales and budgets.
• For Senior Engineers, taking greater responsibility for project delivery, client relationships and mentoring junior engineers.

About You

I would like to speak with Electrical Engineers and Senior Electrical Engineers who have experience within a building services consultancy environment.

Ideally, you will have:

• A degree, HND or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
• Experience designing electrical building services within a consultancy environment.
• Knowledge of relevant UK regulations, design standards and industry best practice.
• Experience using electrical design software such AutoCAD and Revit would be advantageous.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
• An interest in sustainable building design and low-carbon engineering solutions.
• Chartered status or a desire to work towards professional accreditation would be advantageous.
• Applications are welcomed from Engineers looking to progress into a Senior position, as well as established Senior Engineers seeking a fresh challenge.
