Job summary

Carrington West is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead electrical building services design on defence and secure-sector projects across the UK. You will coordinate multidisciplinary teams, deliver feasibility to completion, and mentor junior engineers while ensuring regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

  • Degree or Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
  • Membership of CIBSE, IET, or a relevant professional body.
  • Chartered Engineer status (or working towards chartership).
  • Proven experience delivering electrical design projects within complex or highly regulated sectors.
  • Experience managing or mentoring junior engineers.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, and electrical design software such as Amtech.
  • Strong understanding of current legislation, Building Regulations, CIBSE guidance, sustainability requirements, and industry best practice.
  • Excellent communication, client-facing, and project management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Produce feasibility studies, detailed designs, specifications, and technical reports.
  • Meet with clients to develop project briefs, define requirements, and establish budget expectations.

  • Manage projects through construction phases, ensuring delivery to programme, budget, and quality standards.
  • Monitor site progress, inspect installations, and ensure compliance with specifications and regulations.
  • Carry out condition surveys and produce technical inspection reports.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers.
  • Support resource planning and project delivery activities.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, identifying opportunities for repeat business and future projects.

Are you a Senior Electrical Engineer with experience delivering complex building services projects within defence, custodial, public sector, or other highly regulated environments? We are seeking an experienced contractor to support a growing portfolio of secure infrastructure projects across the UK.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a multidisciplinary project team delivering critical electrical engineering solutions on high-profile Ministry of Defence (MoD) and Ministry of Justice (MoJ) programmes.

The Opportunity

As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will take a lead role in the design, coordination, and delivery of electrical building services projects from feasibility through to completion. Working alongside multidisciplinary teams, you will provide technical leadership, manage project delivery, and maintain strong client relationships throughout the project lifecycle.

Security Clearance Requirement
