Job summary

Suir Engineering Ltd. is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer for an EP&R project based in Kilmarnock, Scotland. The role focuses on design, commissioning and on-site leadership for HV/LV systems within energy, power and renewables projects.

You will develop schematics, coordinate protection studies, supervise site activities and liaise with clients and contractors to ensure compliant delivery. Strong communication and experience in HV energy sectors are essential.

Qualifications

• Third-level degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• 5+ years’ experience as Electrical Project Engineer in HV energy/renewables.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and review schematic drawings and single line diagrams.
• Coordinate HV protection studies, arc flash, voltage regulation, load flow and fault reports.
• Pre-commissioning and commissioning of GIS and AIS substations.
• Ensure safety requirements across projects are met.
• Design high and low voltage equipment and protection systems end-to-end.
• Prepare technical specifications and procurement documentation.
• Prepare and manage project programs and progress reporting.
• Coordinate with clients, design team and contractors on technical issues.
• Lead on-site technical queries, testing, commissioning and handover.

We have exciting opportunity for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join Suir Engineering Ltd. This position will be based on a EP&R project based in Kilmarnock, Scotland

What You Will Be Doing

• Development and review of schematic drawings and single line diagrams
• Developing HV system studies including protection coordination, arc flash, voltage regulation, load flow and fault level reports
• Pre-commissioning and commissioning of GIS and AIS Substations
• Complying with specific project safety requirements
• Detailed design covering all aspects of High & Low voltage equipment and control and protection systems
• Specification, selection and procurement of the range of equipment
• Preparation and interpretation of technical specifications and enquiry documentation
• Assist with the preparation of technical and contract documentation for issue.
• Monitor progress against the program and issue progress reports.
• Prepare method statements and risk assessments.
• Carry out document control, recording and transmitting information.
• Liaising and co-ordinating with clients, other members of the design team and contractors on technical issues.
• Managing all technical queries on site and assist project team in all site electrical engineering issues to include: the management, the planning, the testing and commissioning and the handover of all project systems.
• Prepare programs using MS project.
• Plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate program of assigned engineering work and projects.
• Assemble bid, approval, and construction issue drawing packages.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of the design and change if necessary.
• Estimate cost, reliability, and safety factors.
• Use computers extensively to produce and analyse designs.
• Supervise technicians and other engineers during development phase.
• Build, test and modify product prototypes.
• Any other reasonable and relevant duties as requested by your manager, necessary to meet the ongoing needs of the company

Is this job for me?

Suitable Candidates must have a third level degree in Electrical Engineering with 5+ years’ experience working as an Electrical Project Engineer in the HV Energy and Renewable Sector.
