We are currently recruiting for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our client’s business, which provides "Innovative Solutions" for Professional Computing in the Industrial & Defence Sectors.
Specialities include: computers, racks, rack integration, tablets, technology, engineering, manufacturing, IoT, electro-mechanical systems, sheet metal, wireless sensors, defence, automation, communications, energy, transport, healthcare, edge computing, and micro data centres.
We strongly encourage applications from ex-British Military personnel who may not meet all the requirements but can bring experience working on complex electrical/electronic systems and preferably hold an engineering degree.
Electrical Design:
- Provide electrical design authority for existing and new projects, resolving design questions and issues.
- Design and develop electrical systems supporting complex, custom projects.
- Create system schematics, circuit diagrams, cable assemblies, wiring lists, and electrical BOMs, including wires, cables, connectors, and electrical devices.
- Offer electrical and electronic SME advice to the engineering team.
- Complete conceptual designs using SolidWorks Electrical, prototype, and verify designs.
- Review electrical drawings and documentation for accuracy, safety, and cost/time constraints.
- Handle electrical/electronic component selection considering obsolescence, availability, and cost.
- Prepare and present design reviews; generate minutes when needed.
- Maintain design files and documentation per departmental procedures.
- Highlight electrical/electronic technical risks to the Engineering Director.
- Utilize preferred design tools: SolidWorks Electrical, Microsoft Visio, 2D CAD.
- Adhere to ISO9001 processes, suggest improvements, and implement them into the BMS system.
- Specify materials and equipment for purchase, coordinating with purchasing and suppliers.
- Generate technical reports and documentation as required.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure designs meet applicable codes and standards.
- Identify and address compliance risks.
NPI:
- Support pre-sales activities with concept designs.
- Collaborate on part selection, sourcing, and specifications.
- Work with engineering and production to build, verify, and train on prototypes.
- Ensure products are reliable and perform in specified environments.
- Respond promptly to engineering support requests and provide status updates.
- Assist in rework or training for non-conforming materials.
