Job summary

Addison Project plc, a long-standing UK engineering consultancy, is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to take on the site-based role of Responsible Electrical Person. The position focuses on HV and LV networks, safety, compliance, and capital project support across our Hertfordshire site.

You will lead maintenance, ensure statutory compliance, and drive asset integrity while coordinating with multi-discipline teams. On-site, 5-day week, with on-call requirements, starting September 2026.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
• Chartered Status preferred.
• On-site industrial electrical (including HV) experience.
• Experience holding SAEP status for HV networks.
• Understanding of DSEAR / ATEX regulations.
• COMPEX 14 qualification desirable.
• Development of engineering standards and reports.
• Experience with HSE frameworks to at least IOSH level.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Delivery-focused, safe, accurate design completed to cost and programme.

Responsibilities

• Ensure statutory and legislative compliance for electrical infrastructure and distribution across the site.
• Lead the electrical function, including maintenance, operation, compliance and upgrades.
• Oversee HV infrastructure and site safety, control of training and competency.
• Develop an improvement roadmap for HV infrastructure and coordinate with Capital Projects.
• Identify training needs for the electrical team and approve all personnel on electrical work.

Role: Senior Electrical Engineer / Responsible Electrical Person

Location: Hertfordshire

Workscope

The Senior Electrical Engineer will be responsible for ensuring statutory and legislative compliance, and service delivery of the electrical infrastructure and distribution network across the manufacturing site. This will include the safety and operational integrity of site electrical equipment and systems, covering both HV (11kV) and LV networks.

The role acts as the site Duty Holder and Responsible Electrical Person and will lead the electrical function, covering maintenance, operation, statutory compliance, and upgrades where necessary. The role is also responsible for ensuring suitable asset integrity practices are in place and that all training and competency requirements are met.

This is a site based role, where you will be required to be on site Monday to Friday with some on call work required outside of these times.

Services to be provided

Encompassing a mix of site and office-based work, the post holder will be required to access all areas of site, including climbing stairs and ladders to access electrical equipment.

• Responsible for the safety of electrical personnel and all work on the electrical equipment and systems at site
• Proactively promote a positive Health & Safety culture and ensure adherence to all policies
• Management of operational, maintenance, and compliance requirements of site electrical systems.
• Approval of electrical safety documentation
• Ensure electrical safety guidance is followed
• Ensure that electrical compliance is achieved through adherence with all legislative requirements surrounding statutory inspections, maintenance and close out of remedial actions.
• Responsible for compiling and performing HV switching schedules and setting protection settings.
• Manage ongoing inspection and compliance programme for ATEX 137 and DSEAR so that equipment suitability is met within hazardous areas and that detailed equipment inspections is in place.
• Identity training needs for site electrical team
• Accountable for approval of all those working on electrical equipment and maintaining the database of authorised personnel.
• Maintaining an awareness of technology offerings, upgrades and best practice within the electrical environment.
• Act as Subject Matter Expert, providing support and advice on electrical equipment design and ongoing assistance for operations and capital projects
• Oversee management of the site HV infrastructure, working with business units to ensure compliance with HSE and site safety requirements
• Develop an improvement roadmap for the HV infrastructure for site and work with Capital Projects to ensure projects are delivered to correct specification

• Understanding of DSEAR / ATEX regulations

• Experience of HSE frameworks to a minimum IOSH level
• Strong technical foundation and willingness to develop professionally
• Strong communication and teamwork skills with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Passion for delivering safe, fit for purpose, accurate design, completed to cost and programme.
• Exposure to work in a multi-discipline on site team
