Senior / Principal Electrical Design Engineers (Building Services)

RPS is seeking Senior or Principal Electrical Design Engineers (Building Services) to join our offices in Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham, or Newcastle on a hybrid basis.

About The Design Business: RPS Design Division delivers projects across sectors including residential, logistics, retail, aviation, healthcare, education, manufacturing, data centres, and energy, balancing sustainability, materiality, cost, and constructability. Digitalisation enhances our delivery, allowing clients to experience designs from concept through detailed drawings, supported by expertise across industries and disciplines.

What you’ll be doing: This role offers career progression as a Senior Electrical Design Engineer within our renowned team, with responsibilities including:

• Producing detailed design calculations and sketches per project requirements
• Applying good technical engineering design knowledge
• Collaborating with Senior Engineers and Technicians on design and drawings
• Participating in survey, design, specification, and contract administration, often with an Electrical Associate
• Engaging in survey, design, project administration, and site visits
• Carrying out electrical building services design for new and refurbishment projects
• Supporting feasibility, concept, and scheme design stages
• Attending design meetings
• Inspecting electrical systems and producing reports
• Utilising software for calculations and design
• Ensuring compliance with legislative and safety standards
• Producing CAD drawings and specifications
• Specifying products and installation standards for contractors

For a Principal Electrical Engineer, responsibilities include survey, design, specification, contract administration, and contributing to business development.

Who we’re looking for: A degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering and experience aligned with IET or CIBSE requirements are essential. Skills include:

• Designing electrical systems from concept to detailed design (BSRIA BG6 Stage 4A)
• Low voltage distribution, lighting, power, fire alarm, ICT cabling, and containment
• Proficiency in Amtech, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office
• Understanding of Building Regulations Part L
• Good communication skills
