Senior / Principal Electrical Design Engineers (Building Services)

RPS is currently seeking Senior / Principal Electrical Design Engineers (Building Services) to join our offices in Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham, or Newcastle on a hybrid basis.

About The Design Business: RPS Design Division delivers projects across various sectors including residential, logistics, retail, aviation, healthcare, education, manufacturing, data centres, energy, and more. We focus on balancing sustainability, materiality, cost, and constructability, leveraging digital tools and expertise to deliver innovative designs from concept to completion.

What you’ll be doing: This role offers career progression for a Senior Electrical Design Engineer. Responsibilities include:

• Producing detailed design calculations and sketches
• Applying technical engineering design knowledge
• Liaising with Senior Engineers and Technicians
• Surveying, designing, specifying, and administering contracts
• Combining survey, design, project administration, and site visits
• Carrying out electrical building services design on new and refurbishment projects
• Supporting feasibility, concept, and scheme design stages
• Attending team meetings
• Inspecting electrical systems and ensuring compliance with regulations
• Utilising software for calculations and CAD drawings
• Specifying products and installation standards

Who we’re looking for: Candidates should have a degree in Electrical Engineering, experience aligned with IET or CIBSE requirements, and skills in designing electrical systems from concept to detailed design, including:

• Low voltage distribution, lighting, power, fire alarm, ICT cabling
• Proficiency in Amtech, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office
• Understanding of Building Regulations Part L
• Good communication skills
