Electrical Design Engineers (Building Services)

RPS is currently seeking Electrical Design Engineers (Building Services) to join our offices in Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham, or Newcastle on a hybrid basis.

About The Design Business: RPS Design Division delivers projects across multiple sectors, including residential, logistics, retail, aviation, healthcare, education, manufacturing, data centres, and energy. We focus on balancing form and function, considering sustainability, materiality, cost, and constructability. Digitalisation is central to our approach, enabling clients to experience designs from concept through detailed drawings, leveraging expertise across industries and disciplines.

What you’ll be doing: This role offers career progression for an individual eager to grow as an Electrical Design Engineer within our reputable team, known for expertise across the built environment.

• Produce detailed design calculations and sketches per project requirements
• Apply good technical engineering design knowledge
• Liaise with Senior Engineers and Technicians on design and drawings
• Assist in survey, design, specification, and contract administration alongside Electrical Associates
• Perform survey, design, office administration, and site attendance tasks
• Carry out detailed Electrical Building Services Design on new build and refurbishment projects
• Support feasibility studies, concept, and scheme design stages
• Attend design team meetings
• Inspect and report on electrical systems
• Utilise Building Services software for calculations
• Design surveys, drawings, and specifications, ensuring compliance with legislative and safety standards
• Create CAD drawings and specify products and standards for installation

Who we’re looking for: A candidate with a degree in Electrical Engineering and experience aligned with IET or CIBSE requirements, capable of designing electrical systems from concept to detailed design, including low voltage distribution, lighting, small power, fire alarms, ICT cabling, and use of Amtech and AutoCAD.
