Senior Electrical Design Engineer (Water)

We are recruiting multiple Senior Electrical Design Engineers (Water) for major long-term frameworks across the UK, including a £100 million framework with United Utilities to improve river health in Northwest England.

RPS has over 20 years of collaboration with United Utilities on innovative water projects. As we approach AMP8, this is an exciting time to work in the water industry, contributing to positive environmental change.

Under this 10-year framework, RPS will optimize programs, develop solutions, and select the best options based on value, carbon footprint, and cost, aiming to deliver exceptional water services and foster resilience and sustainability in the Northwest.

About The Team:

RPS Water Consulting comprises Engineers, Modellers, and Data Analysts providing Asset Management and Operational Strategy support to water industry clients, tackling industry challenges with innovation and teamwork.

We also work with several major water companies across the UK, managing a broad portfolio of long-term frameworks, with ongoing programs leading into AMP9 and beyond, securing long-term career growth.

About You:

Your responsibilities include delivering projects technically, managing budgets, meeting deadlines, and ensuring quality, all while exceeding client expectations. Your Responsibilities:
  • Ensure projects meet technical, legislative, quality, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Develop innovative, optimized technical solutions aligned with client needs.
  • Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary teams (process, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, ICA).
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients and partners regarding technical, commercial, and project progress matters.
  • Support design and advisory services for water and wastewater treatment plants, pumping stations, and assets.
  • Perform detailed electrical designs, calculations, specifications, reports, and drawings.
  • Deliver multidisciplinary projects as a Design Lead using digital design techniques.
  • Mentor and develop team members.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
  • Extensive experience in process plant systems within complex water projects.
  • Hands-on experience in water and wastewater projects.
  • Proficiency in digital design for construction projects.
  • Leadership experience in technical or discipline teams, emphasizing collaboration.
Qualifications:
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or relevant technical field; postgraduate qualifications are advantageous.
  • Chartered status or working towards it.
  • Membership with professional bodies like IET, InstMC, or CIWEM, or working towards membership.
