Job summary

Hoare Lea, Manchester-based engineering consultancy, seeks a Principal Electrical Engineer to lead high-quality, sustainable electrical design across multiple built-environment projects. You’ll join the Manchester office, contributing to local and international opportunities.

Role involves owning design delivery, coordinating with teams, and representing Hoare Lea in client meetings to drive excellence and growth.

Qualifications

Qualified and recognised in the industry, preferably with Chartered status.
Proven in-depth technical knowledge in electrical/building services design and related regs.
Strong understanding of complementary disciplines and leading integrated design teams.
Excellent client facing skills with ability to manage difficult situations calmly.

Responsibilities

Lead the design delivery for significant and complex building services schemes from inception to completion.
Define and agree the design brief with clients and manage client relationships professionally.
Represent Hoare Lea at project meetings and promote services to support client projects.
Manage, prioritise and motivate the internal project team and lead internal meetings.
Delegate, review and check work; contribute to professional development of team members.
Monitor project expenditure, costs and resource needs; report to the team lead.
Identify and manage project and commercial risks and procurement impacts.
Ensure deliverables meet quality standards and programme deadlines.
Share technical knowledge across the business with cross-disciplinary collaboration.
Communicate openly and effectively at all levels internally and externally.
