Job summary

Set2Recruit is seeking an experienced Contract Electrical Design Engineer near Taunton/Weston-super-Mare to join a busy engineering team on a 3‑month initial contract. Hybrid working pattern applies, with 3 days onsite and 2 days remote per week. Rate £40-50 per hour, inside IR35.

You will design electrical schematics, modify designs, prepare technical docs, test, fault-find and drive compliance from concept to manufacture across multiple projects.

Job description

Contract Electrical Design Engineer

Location: Near Taunton/Weston-super-Mare
Contract: Initial 3 months
IR35: Inside IR35
Hybrid: Alternating between 3 days and 2 days per week onsite
Rate: £40-50 per hour.

We're looking for an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to support a busy engineering team delivering new and existing product designs.

You must really have -

• ATEX or CompEx experience would be highly desirable -
• AND can start in 1-2 weeks (latest)

You'll be working across electrical schematics, design modifications, technical documentation, testing, fault-finding and product compliance, taking projects from initial requirements through to manufacture.

Ideally, you'll have:

• Strong electrical design and schematic experience
• Electrical CAD experience - SEE Electrical, EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical or similar
• Experience with controls, sensors, motors, power supplies and PCB assemblies
• Product development and manufacturing experience
• Knowledge of electrical compliance and technical files
• ATEX or CompEx experience would be highly desirable

You'll need to be comfortable getting hands-on, working across several projects and taking ownership from day one.
