Job summary

TRUE Engineers Limited is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to lead building services design across healthcare and data centre projects in the South East. You will design and specify systems for healthcare environments, including nurse call/alarm, LV distribution and critical power, with site visits to projects in London and surrounding areas.

The role involves coordination with clients and teams, modelling with electrical design tools, and ensuring compliance with UK standards.

Qualifications

• Degree in electrical engineering or building services is required.
• Solid experience of electrical design in building services.
• Strong knowledge of British standards and building regulations.

Responsibilities

• Design and specify lighting, fire alarm, small power, earthing and bonding, emergency generators, UPS/IPS, LV distribution, metering and controls; consider HV networks and nurse call/alarm systems.
• Attend project meetings with clients and professional teams.
• Carry out electrical design calculations using Trimble/Amtech.
• Carry out lighting design calculations using DiaLux or Equal.
• Produce drawings and specifications; carry out surveys as needed.
• Assist in Part L and BREEAM calculations and design.
• Input into budgets for proposed works.
• Help maintain repeat business through client care.
• Occasional out-of-hours work may be required.

Due to current expansion and recent appointments on new projects this employer is looking for a senior electrical design engineer to join their team

You’ll work on a range of projects across a variety of sectors. Due to the nature of the role, site visits will be needed, most of the projects are in London and the Southeast, although occasional nationwide or European travel may be needed

A large number of projects are within the healthcare sector, in areas such as operating theatres, MRI/CT scanners, endoscopy. Work in other sectors includes defence, datacentres and commercial.

Responsibilities

• Design and specify the following systems: Lighting, fire alarm systems, small power systems, earthing and bonding systems, emergency generator back-up systems, UPS / IPS systems, LV distribution, metering and controls, Understanding of HV networks and incoming supplies, lightning protection design and systems particular to health care buildings such as nurse call/alarm systems
• Attend project meetings with client`s and professional teams.
• Undertake electrical design calculations using Trimble / Amtech.
• Undertake lighting design calculations using DiaLux or Equal.
• Produce drawings and specifications.
• Carry out condition surveys, dilapidation surveys
• Input into Part L calculations & BREEAM calculations and design.
• Assist in preparing budgets for proposed works.
• Help maintain repeat business through continued care of clients
• Due to the nature of the works that are undertaken in the healthcare sector, occasional out of hours working will be required to suit the project and the end users' activities.

Experience Required

• Degree in electrical engineering or building services
• Solid experience of electrical design in building services
• Working knowledge of British standards and building regulations
• Strong communication and team-working skills
• Current UK driving licence
• Due to the nature of some projects, you must be a British national
• Some knowledge of Data & I.T systems, security / access control and CCTV systems etc. BMS interfacing, EMC facilities, filtered power requirements and differing voltages/frequencies etc
