Job summary

Skilled Careers is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer for a central London role. You will lead electrical design packages for commercial and mixed-use schemes, ensuring BS7671 compliance and adherence to UK building regulations.

In a flexible hybrid environment, you will mentor junior engineers and collaborate with architects, mechanical engineers, and external contractors to deliver cohesive MEP solutions across projects.

Qualifications

• A degree in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years UK consultancy experience in commercial and mixed-use projects.
• Proficiency in Amtech, Dialux, Relux, and Revit MEP.
• Chartered Engineer status (CEng) with the IET or CIBSE, or currently working towards it.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to present technical solutions to clients.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of full electrical design packages from concept to completion.
• Produce calculations and schematics ensuring BS7671 compliance and UK regulations.
• Coordinate with mechanical engineers, architects, and contractors for integrated MEP solutions.
• Mentor junior to intermediate electrical engineers and review drawings.
• Attend design team meetings, client pitches, and conduct site inspections.

Job Title: Senior Electrical Design Engineer

Sector: Building Services (M&E)

Salary: £55,000 - £65,000 + Benefits (Depending on Experience)

Key Responsibilities:

• Take ownership of full electrical design packages, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarms, and security systems from concept to completion.
• Produce detailed calculations and schematics utilizing industry-standard software to ensure compliance with BS7671 and current UK building regulations.
• Coordinate closely with mechanical engineers, architects, and external contractors to deliver clash-free, integrated MEP solutions.
• Guide and mentor junior to intermediate electrical engineers, reviewing their calculations and drawings.
• Attend design team meetings, client pitches, and conduct site inspections to monitor installation quality.

What You Need to Succeed:

• A degree in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
• A minimum of 5 years of UK consultancy experience, with a strong background in commercial and mixed-use projects.
• High proficiency in software such as Amtech, Dialux, Relux, and a strong working knowledge of Revit MEP.
• Chartered Engineer status (CEng) with the IET or CIBSE, or currently working towards it.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to confidently present technical solutions to clients.
