Job summary

True Engineers in West Byfleet, Surrey, is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join its Building Services team. You will design HVAC, water services and drainage for multiple projects with site visits as needed.

Projects span healthcare, defence, data centres and commercial sectors, mainly in London and the Southeast, with occasional nationwide travel. A degree in mechanical engineering (or building services) and 7+ years' experience are required, with IES proficiency.

Qualifications

• Degree in mechanical engineering or building services; HNC/HND acceptable.
• Minimum 7 years' building services design experience.
• Working knowledge of British standards and building regulations.
• Familiarity with BREEAM.
• Proficient with IES software for calculations/design.
• Excellent communication and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Design and specify HVAC, hot and cold water and above ground drainage systems for integration into designs.
• Attend project meetings with clients and professional team.
• Carry out condition surveys, dilapidation surveys or specific surveys.
• Input into Part L and BREEAM calculations.
• Prepare budgets for proposed works.
• Assessing and commenting of mechanical feasibility of new projects.
• Help generate repeat business through continued care of clients.

Due to current expansion and recent appointments on new projects this employer is looking for a senior mechanical design engineer to join their team

You’ll work on a range of projects across a variety of sectors. Due to the nature of the role, site visits will be needed, most of the projects are in London and the Southeast, although occasional nationwide or European travel may be needed

A large number of projects are within the healthcare sector, in areas such as operating theatres, MRI/CT scanners, endoscopy. Work in other sectors includes defence, datacentres and commercial.

Responsibilities

• Design and specify the HVAC, hot and cold water and above ground drainage systems for integration into the overall designs of multiple projects, acting as part of the larger design team.
• Attend project meetings with clients and professional team.
• Carry out condition surveys, dilapidation surveys or specific surveys
• Input into Part L and BTEEAM calculations.
• Prepare budgets for proposed works.
• Assessing and commenting of mechanical feasibility of new projects
• Help generate repeat business through continued care of clients

Experience Required

• Degree in mechanical engineering or building services, qualified at least to HNC or HND level, with suitable design experience as alternative to degree
• Minimum of 7 years' experience of design in building services, post qualification completion
• Working knowledge of British standards and building regulations
• Working knowledge of BREEAM
• Software calculations/design using IES
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong team-working skills
• Current UK driving licence
• Due to the nature of some projects, you must be a British national
