Job Description:

Our client is a rapidly growing business designing innovative applications for the marine industry. If you are meticulous and passionate about design and development, especially for pre-production projects, this could be perfect for you.

Position: Senior Electrical Design Engineer (contract)

Industry: Marine applications

Duration: 6 months

Responsibilities:

1. System Design and Integration:

• Collaborate with mechanical, software, and systems engineers to integrate electrical systems into overall designs.
• Design and layout electrical systems, including power distribution, wiring harnesses, connectors, control modules, and charging systems.
• Ensure all designs comply with industry standards and safety regulations.

Prototyping and Testing:

• Work with testing teams to conduct functional, performance, and safety tests on electrical systems.
• Diagnose and resolve issues during testing phases.

Documentation and Reporting:

• Develop schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical reports related to electrical design.
• Communicate design concepts and findings effectively to team members, management, and stakeholders.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Degree in Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering, or minimum of 5 years industry experience with apprenticeship qualification.
• Proficiency in CAD software for electrical design (e.g., AutoCAD or similar).
• Experience with 3D CAD systems (e.g., Inventor) is advantageous but not essential.
• Familiarity with CAN Bus systems.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Experience in preparing and submitting detailed design specifications for high-value projects.
• Proactive, self-motivated, and committed to excellence.
• Willingness to embrace innovation and creativity; lateral thinking encouraged.
• Experience in testing and commissioning electrical systems.

Working Hours:

• Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm, with flexibility such as 7.30am – 4pm.

Candidates must be able to obtain BPSS clearance and have the right to work in the UK.
