Job summary

CIBSE Journal is recruiting for a Senior or Principal Electrical Building Services Engineer to lead electrical design across a range of UK projects. You will drive multidisciplinary coordination, mentor junior engineers, and ensure designs meet programme, budget and safety requirements.

The role requires Chartered Engineer status (or working towards Chartership), strong UK project delivery experience and proficiency with BIM and Revit MEP.

Qualifications

• Strong background in Electrical Building Services Design within a consultancy.
• Chartered Engineer status or actively pursuing Chartership through IET or CIBSE.
• Experience delivering multidisciplinary building services projects in the UK with BIM/Revit.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical building services design projects from inception to completion.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary project teams and manage interfaces.
• Produce and review technical designs, calculations, specifications and reports.
• Support project delivery in line with programme, budget, quality and safety objectives.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships and chair design/coordination meetings.
• Utilise BIM and digital engineering tools to support project delivery and development of junior staff.
• Contribute to commercial performance and project profitability.

Your new role

As a Senior or Principal Electrical Building Services Engineer, you will play a key role in the technical leadership and delivery of multidisciplinary building services projects from concept through to completion. Working closely with project leadership teams, you will lead electrical design activities, coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, and help shape innovative engineering solutions for a broad portfolio of projects throughout the UK.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Leading electrical building services design projects from inception to completion.
• Managing and coordinating multidisciplinary project teams.
• Producing and reviewing technical designs, calculations, specifications, and reports.
• Supporting project delivery in line with programme, budget, quality, and safety objectives.
• Building and maintaining strong client relationships.
• Chairing design and coordination meetings with project teams and external stakeholders.
• Utilising BIM and digital engineering tools to support project delivery.
• Contributing to the development and mentoring of junior engineers.
• Supporting commercial performance and project profitability.
• Keeping up to date with current legislation, standards, and industry best practice.

What you'll need to succeed

To be considered, you should have:

• A strong background in Electrical Building Services Design within a consultancy environment.
• Chartered Engineer status (or be working towards Chartership through IET or CIBSE).
• Experience delivering multidisciplinary building services projects within the UK.
• Proficiency with BIM and digital design tools, with Revit MEP experience highly desirable.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• The ability to lead teams and manage multiple project priorities.
• Commercial awareness and a track record of delivering technically excellent engineering solutions.
