Job description

Our client, a leading global multidisciplinary engineering consultancy, is looking to appoint a Senior or Principal Electrical Engineer to join its established Building Engineering team in Manchester. This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly regarded consultancy delivering technically challenging, innovative projects across a diverse range of sectors. The successful candidate will work within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment, contributing to the design and delivery of sustainable buildings while supporting clients in achieving their Net Zero Carbon objectives.

Role

As a project leading Electrical Engineer, you will play a key role in the delivery of electrical building services projects from initial feasibility and concept design through to construction and completion. Working alongside other engineering disciplines, architects and external stakeholders, you will take responsibility for electrical design, provide technical guidance and contribute to the successful delivery of projects across sectors including aviation, education, energy, sport, healthcare and Data Centres. The role will also provide opportunities to embrace digital innovation, explore automation and utilise modern design technologies to improve project efficiency and delivery.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading the electrical design and technical delivery of building services projects.
• Taking responsibility for electrical engineering design from concept through to completion.
• Collaborating with multidisciplinary design teams, clients, architects and external consultants.
• Delivering innovative, energy-efficient and sustainable engineering solutions.
• Supporting clients in achieving Net Zero Carbon targets.
• Applying design analysis software and digital engineering tools to enhance project delivery.
• Contributing to project planning, coordination and commercial performance.
• Managing and mentoring junior engineers and technicians, supporting their professional development.
• Maintaining strong client relationships and identifying opportunities to develop new and existing project work.

About You

We are keen to hear from experienced Electrical Engineers with a strong background in building services consultancy and the technical ability to lead electrical design across a range of projects. You will ideally have:

• A degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Building Services Engineering, preferably at Master's level.
• Chartered Engineer status through a relevant professional institution, such as the IET or CIBSE.
• Significant experience in electrical building services design within a consultancy environment.
• Experience leading electrical design and coordinating projects from inception to completion.
• Strong technical knowledge and experience across a variety of building types and project scales.
• Experience working within multidisciplinary design teams.
• Excellent communication, organisational and project management skills.
• Good commercial awareness and the ability to develop effective working relationships with clients and project stakeholders.
• Experience using electrical design analysis software.
• Familiarity with BIM environments and Revit would be advantageous.
• Experience managing, mentoring and developing junior engineers and technicians.
• A genuine interest in sustainable building design, engineering innovation and continued professional development.
