The Opportunity

As a Senior Electrical Design & Compliance Engineer in our Proseal business, reporting to the Head of Automation, you will create, modify, and maintain electrical schematic diagrams for packaging machinery. You will be a technical authority on electrical regulations, ensuring compliance for a global market, sourcing electrical components, and optimizing machinery.

Daily Responsibilities

• Electrical design to meet safety and functionality goals
• Producing wiring schematic diagrams in accordance with international regulations
• Ensuring test procedures verify electrical safety and compliance
• Model electrical panel layouts
• Sourcing components like sensors, actuators, cables, and switchgear
• Ensuring proper sizing of cables and protection devices
• Developing supporting documentation

Requirements

• Electrical Engineering degree/HND or equivalent with experience as an electrical design engineer, preferably in the food industry OEM
• Proficiency in Electrical CAD software, ideally EPLAN
• Familiarity with PLCs, servo drives, AC inverters; Mitsubishi control gear is a plus
• Experience with CE marking, Low Voltage, EMC Directives, UL, CSA, NFPA regulations
• Knowledge of IET 18th Edition wiring practices, EMC noise reduction, cable sizing, overcurrent protection
• Familiarity with Functional Safety standards ISO EN 13849-1

Travel & Location

Onsite in Macclesfield, with occasional travel up to 5% for supplier visits or customer meetings.
