Job summary

Blackedge Consulting is seeking a Senior Electrical Building Services Engineer to lead electrical design for data centres and mission-critical facilities across the UK and internationally. You will work within a multidisciplinary Building Services team, delivering concept to construction for complex data-centre projects.

The role requires a strong background in Electrical Building Services Engineering, data centre experience, and activity across LV/HV networks, standby power, UPS and power

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical/Building Services or related engineering discipline.
• Chartered Engineer status or progress towards Chartership desirable.
• Experience delivering data centre or mission-critical projects.

Responsibilities

• Develop electrical design and delivery of data centre projects from concept through construction.
• Review calculations, drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
• Coordinate with mechanical, structural, architectural, sustainability and specialist teams.
• Provide technical leadership to junior engineers and multidisciplinary teams.
• Support client meetings and provide technical advice throughout the project lifecycle.
• Contribute to project commercial performance and successful delivery.

Data Centres | Mission Critical | Building Services

We’re supporting a leading multidisciplinary engineering consultancy with the continued growth of its Data Centre and Critical Facilities team and are looking to speak with experienced Senior Electrical Building Services Engineers.

Candidates will already or have previously worked within MEP or Building Services Design

You’ll join a well-established engineering environment delivering major technically complex projects across the UK and international markets, with data centres forming a significant and growing part of the workload.

The Role

Working as part of a multidisciplinary Building Services team, you’ll take responsibility for the electrical design and delivery of data centre and mission-critical projects from early concept through detailed design and construction.

Responsibilities will include:

• Developing resilient electrical infrastructure for data centre environments
• Working across LV/HV systems, standby power, UPS, generators and critical power distribution
• Delivering technically robust and energy-efficient engineering solutions
• Coordinating with mechanical, structural, architectural, sustainability and specialist teams
• Reviewing calculations, drawings, specifications and technical documentation
• Managing elements of project delivery and engineering resource
• Supporting client meetings and providing technical advice throughout the project lifecycle
• Providing technical leadership to junior engineers and multidisciplinary teams
• Contributing to project commercial performance and successful delivery

We’re looking for someone with:

• A strong background in Electrical Building Services Engineering
• Experience leading or delivering data centre or mission-critical projects
• Experience within consultancy or multidisciplinary design environments
• Good knowledge of critical electrical infrastructure and resilience principles
• Strong technical, project-delivery and stakeholder-management skills
• Degree qualification in Electrical, Building Services or a related engineering discipline
• Chartered Engineer status, or progress towards Chartership, would be highly desirable
• Experience across sectors such as data centres, hospitals, laboratories, airports or other critical environments may also be considered
