Job description

Binnies UK part of the RSK Group are recruiting talented engineers to join our growing Delivery business based throughout the UK. Our teams consult, deliver and manage Critical Human Infrastructure projects across the Water and Wastewater industries in the UK and overseas. You will get the opportunity to work on a range of challenging engineering projects in a collaborative and supportive team environment.

We are seeking Senior / Principal EICA Design Engineers to work on both clean water and wastewater schemes, delivering engineering solutions ranging from concept design through to detailed design for construction.

Key responsibilities include:

1. Lead teams of electrical engineers to produce clear and concise engineering deliverables appropriate for the intended audience including single line diagrams, cable block diagrams and control system architecture drawings, load schedules, MCC datasheets, equipment and material selection, enquiry documentation, datasheets, schedules and reports.
2. Serving as a technical specialist providing knowledge and expertise.
3. Compliance with in-house procedural & quality systems.
4. Coordinating the development of key multidiscipline deliverables such as P&IDs.
5. Managing design interfaces with other disciplines and integration of the EICA design elements into the overall design.
6. Working closely with project teams, other engineering disciplines, Project Managers, estimating, site and commissioning teams, CAD, Joint Venture partners and Clients.
7. Undertaking technical bid assessments, subcontractor design reviews and providing technical support to site teams.
8. Providing technical guidance and supervision to project teams.
9. Undertaking supervisor responsibilities including performance management and supporting professional development.
10. Defining and managing budget, schedule, and quality requirements for electrical teams.

The role is suitable for technically strong, commercially aware candidates with a background in Electrical Engineering in the water or closely related industries. You should possess and be able to demonstrate the following qualifications, skills and knowledge:

1. Clean water and wastewater engineering systems design experience including equipment specification, electrical power systems / water treatment control systems, plant layout, working knowledge of other discipline needs, preparation of plant and equipment layouts, change and risk management, preparation of technical and economic evaluations for electrical plant.
2. Working knowledge of electrical power systems or water treatment control systems, integrated system design, relevant manufacturing processes, testing and commissioning practices, procurement processes, strong knowledge of codes and practices, CDM, understand environmental management, planning process, document control.
3. Be degree qualified in electrical engineering, or closely associated course.
4. Typically, have several years of related work experience.
5. Must be enthusiastic, adaptable and be driven to provide efficient engineering solutions.
6. Be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision to lead teams to deliver engineering outputs to time and budget.
7. Excellent written and verbal communications skills along with a high level of computer literacy.
8. Professional Qualification (IEng / CEng MIET).
9. Display leadership behaviours that help to build strong effective teams.
10. Supports continuous improvement.
11. Be driven to support and mentor others to improve their technical skills.
12. Be driven to progress your own career, expanding your technical knowledge and skill sets and keeping up to date with industry developments and practices.
