Job summary

Ford & Stanley Talent Services Group Ltd is recruiting a Senior Electrical Design Engineer in Chapel-en-le-Frith. You will own design-for-manufacture tasks, develop electrical architectures and create customer-specific electrical designs using standard components.

Hybrid working is available with opportunities to visit sites, support testing and contribute to future product range while taking technical ownership and autonomy in a close-knit engineering team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/ Electronics Engineering.
• Electrical design experience in manufacturing or industrial settings.
• Experience with CAD software: EPLAN, E3, AutoCAD Electrical.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision.

Responsibilities

Senior Electrical Design Engineer

Chapel-en-le-Frith | £55,000 - £60,000 + Benefits + Hybrid Working

The Situation

An established and highly respected UK engineering manufacturer is investing in the growth of its electrical engineering capability and is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join the business.

This position has been created as part of the company's commitment to strengthening its electrical design and product development function. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering customer projects, developing electrical systems, and supporting future product innovation.

This is a senior-level opportunity offering increased responsibility, technical ownership and the flexibility of hybrid working within a collaborative engineering environment.

The Opportunity

This is an opportunity to join a market-leading engineering business and play a central role in both design-for-manufacture activities and product development initiatives.

Initially, the focus will be on creating customer-specific electrical designs using established and standardised components. Over time, the position will contribute to the development of new products, electrical architectures, panel designs and technologies.

The successful candidate will enjoy a high degree of autonomy, working independently while receiving full training on the company's products and systems. There will also be opportunities to visit operational sites, support testing activities and contribute directly to the future direction of the electrical product range.

The Key Deliverables

• Produce electrical designs for customer projects.


• Develop standardised component and panel designs.


• Support electrical product development initiatives.


• Create and maintain engineering documentation and schematics.


• Support testing, validation and commissioning activities.


• Deliver designs that support efficient manufacture and assembly.


• Contribute to the continuous improvement of products and engineering standards.

The Key Responsibilities

• Produce electrical schematics, layouts and technical documentation.


• Design electrical control systems for industrial machinery and equipment.


• Develop and improve standardised electrical components and solutions.


• Design electrical panels and associated control systems.


• Support PLC-based systems and associated hardware integration.


• Work closely with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are practical and manufacturable.


• Support testing, troubleshooting and technical validation activities.


• Participate in product development and continuous improvement projects.


• Provide technical support to internal stakeholders and customers when required.


• Visit operational sites as necessary to support projects and engineering activities.

The Essential Skills and Competencies

Essential Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering or a related engineering discipline.

Essential Experience

• Electrical Design Engineering experience within a manufacturing, machinery, automation or industrial engineering environment.


• Experience using electrical CAD software such as:

  • Similar electrical design packages
  
  


• Machinery design experience.


• Experience producing electrical schematics and panel designs.


• Strong understanding of design-for-manufacture principles.


• Ability to work independently and manage projects with minimal supervision.

Desirable Experience

• Materials handling equipment.


• Crane systems or lifting equipment.


• PLC systems.


• Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).


• Schneider Electric products.


• Allen Bradley drives and controls.


• Siemens drives and automation products.


• Product development experience.


• Industrial motor control systems.

The Location and Working Conditions

Location: Chapel-en-le-Frith

Working Hours: 4.5 Day Week

Hybrid Working Available

A hybrid working arrangement is available for this role, recognising the flexibility possible within the electrical design function. The successful candidate will spend part of their working week on-site whilst maintaining close collaboration with engineering and manufacturing teams.

Occasional travel to customer and operational sites will be required.

Salary: £55,000 - £60,000 + Benefits
