Job description

Join to apply for the Senior EHS Advisor role at Eurofins.

This is a full-time, permanent position with a flexible 40-hour week. The role involves a hybrid working pattern of 3 days onsite, with travel one week out of four across Europe or Saudi Arabia.

The purpose of this role is to maintain a safe and effective working environment compliant with environmental, health, and safety legislation. The Environmental, Health, Safety and Sustainability (EHSS) Specialist will manage the EHS program, applying technical knowledge to identify improvements and implement changes collaboratively.

The role requires solid knowledge across multiple EHS disciplines such as environmental and safety permitting, chemical safety, biosafety, radiation safety, laboratory safety, fire safety, ergonomics, facilities safety, sustainability, auditing, and inspection.

Job Responsibilities

  • Maintain site EHS programs and records
  • Develop and review policies and procedures
  • Conduct internal audits and inspections
  • Complete and review risk assessments
  • Support accident investigations and ensure implementation of improvement strategies
  • Provide EHS guidance and training to new team members
  • Participate in Safety Committee and cross-functional meetings
  • Manage regulatory licenses, including permits and chemical licenses
  • Support EHS sub-team projects and global programs
  • Participate in emergency response teams
  • Coordinate and execute EHS projects, developing compliant strategies and policies
  • Lead EHS initiatives and promote a positive EHS culture
  • Collect and analyze EHS KPIs
  • Perform regular risk assessments and audits to ensure legal and corporate compliance
  • Assist local managers with incident investigations and corrective actions
  • Identify training needs and enhance safety awareness
  • Monitor policy adherence and effectiveness
  • Conduct EHS inductions, manual handling, and ergonomic training
  • Advocate for a positive EHS culture within the organization
  • Advise management on relevant laws and regulations
  • Participate in environmental and sustainability projects across Europe
  • Review and improve work practices for efficiency and compliance

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, or related Life Science discipline
  • Environmental, Health, or Safety qualification (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, ASP)
  • Degree or diploma in microbiology, chemistry, or related field
  • Minimum 4 years’ GMP laboratory experience in the pharmaceutical industry
  • Level 6 diploma in Environmental Health & Safety or Occupational Health & Safety
  • At least 3 years’ technical experience in EHS with a track record in compliance programs, exposure to chemical/biological agents in pharma or related industry
  • Knowledge of OELs and product containment
  • Understanding of cGMP requirements
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team with self-motivation
  • Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental legislation
  • Experience in chemical/biological risk assessments and occupational monitoring
  • Experience conducting EHS audits
  • Strong organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving and safety culture enhancement
