Job summary

Exponent, a leading engineering and scientific consultancy, is seeking an Ecotoxicologist for our Chemical Regulation and Food Safety Practice in the UK. The role focuses on environmental risk assessments for plant protection products under EU legislation, with responsibility for advising clients and interpreting study reports and literature.

The successful candidate will join multidisciplinary teams, contribute to strategic outputs, and may work from multiple UK offices with homeworking

Qualifications

• MSc degree or equivalent in relevant discipline (e.g. biology, environmental science).
• Experience of completing environmental risk assessments under EU plant protection product legislation (e.g. Regulation (EC) No 1107/2009). Applicants must have relevant experience in this field.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Accuracy and attention to detail.
• Strong team working skills.
• Sound judgement and decision-making ability.
• Good numeracy skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct environmental risk assessments for plant protection products as required by EU legislation (Regulation (EC) No 1107/2009).
• Provide advice to clients on ecotoxicology/environmental risk assessment issues.
• Summarise and interpret data, including study reports and literature, drawing regulatory conclusions.
• Data gap analysis, developing testing strategies and monitoring ecotoxicology studies.
• Provide inputs to multi-disciplinary project teams and contribute to high-quality outputs.
