Job summary

Advance TRS is partnering with a growing environmental consultancy to recruit a Principal Ecologist in the Birmingham area on a hybrid basis, mixing office, home and site-based work.

You will lead complex projects, provide specialist technical advice, mentor junior ecologists and develop client relationships while supporting business growth.

You'll apply robust ecological methods, oversee EcIAs, HRAs and EPSL applications, while coaching the team to deliver high-quality reports and outcomes.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in environmental consultancy.
• Strong knowledge of ecological survey techniques, legislation and policy.
• Ability to lead complex ecological projects from inception to final reporting.
• Experience coaching and mentoring junior ecologists and developing client relationships.

Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver complex ecological projects from commission to final reporting.
• Prepare and oversee Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIAs), HRAs and EPSL applications.
• Provide expert guidance on ecological legislation and planning policy.
• Review technical reports to ensure high quality deliverables.
• Manage budgets, programmes and resources for effective delivery.
• Build and maintain client relationships and contribute to new business opportunities.
• Coach and mentor junior ecologists and share technical expertise.
• Collaborate with colleagues across environmental disciplines.
