Job summary

City Of Doncaster Council is seeking a Senior Ecologist Planner to work at the interface of ecology and planning, providing expert advice and shaping biodiversity gains across developments.

You will act as a key consultee on planning applications, deliver ecological reports interpretation, support biodiversity net gain and habitat conservation, and contribute to Local Nature Recovery Strategy delivery while balancing practical fieldwork and policy requirements.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of UK habitats, habitat management, protected species surveys and planning policy.

Responsibilities

• Act as a key consultee on planning applications and provide expert ecological advice on a wide range of developments.
• Support Principal Ecologist and Biodiversity Officer and contribute to delivery of environmental projects including biodiversity net gain and habitat conservation.
• Engage in fieldwork and on-site surveys, plus interpretation of ecological reports for planning decisions.
• Help deliver Local Nature Recovery Strategy and safeguard biodiversity in development planning.
