Job summary

OS Ecology is seeking an experienced ecologist to join the busy team for the 2027 season, covering Northumberland and the wider North East. You will work with our ecologists and directors on fieldwork and report writing, taking ownership of jobs, coordinating the team and communicating with clients.

A strong focus on biodiversity net gain is required. The successful applicant will have a degree in Ecology, 5 years consultancy experience, and a current protected species licence.

Qualifications

• Full UK driving licence with own car.
• Qualified to degree level in Ecology (or relevant field).
• Full membership or associate with CIEEM.
• 5 year consultancy experience as an ecologist.
• Practical experience with BNG assessments using Biodiversity statutory Metric.
• Excellent level written, oral and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Available to work evenings for survey work.
• Interested in protected species.
• GIS experience.
• Fisc experience.
• Holds minimum of 1 protected species licence.

OS Ecology are looking for an experienced ecologist to join our busy team for the 2027 season due to increased workload.

You will work alongside our team of ecologists and directors to do both fieldwork and report writing.

You will need to be able to take ownership and run various jobs, organise and delegate work around the team, manage client expectations and communicate effectively.

Prepare ecology reports to a high standard including all aspects of biodiversity net gain

You should be a team player, well organised, like to be outside and a good communicator.

Requirements

Full UK driving licence with own car.

Qualified to degree level in Ecology (or relevant field)
