Job summary

Penguin Recruitment is seeking a Senior Ecologist for a permanent role in Kent. The position involves leading protected species and habitat surveys, ecological assessments and Biodiversity Net Gain work, with project management responsibilities and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.

The successful candidate will have 5+ years' ecology consultancy experience, a relevant ecology/environmental degree, and proficiency with QGIS/ArcGIS. Hybrid working and generous benefits are included.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' ecological consultancy experience.
• Relevant ecology/environmental degree.
• CIEEM membership preferred.
• Protected species licence(s) with progress towards others.
• Strong UKHab, BNG, QGIS/ArcGIS and report-writing experience.
• Project management and client liaison experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead protected species and habitat surveys.
• Undertake ecological assessments and BNG work.
• Prepare technical reports and plans using QGIS/ArcGIS.
• Manage projects and liaise with clients and multidisciplinary teams.
• Prepare and oversee protected species licence applications.
• Provide guidance and mentoring to junior ecologists.
• Support habitat creation, restoration and mitigation strategies.
