Service Care Solutions are recruiting an experienced Senior Ecologist to join the Environmental and Planning team on a temporary basis, offering a flexible hybrid arrangement with one day in the Loughborough office and four days remote.

The role focuses on providing specialist ecological advice for planning, development, biodiversity considerations, and policy support within a local authority context.

Qualificações

• Degree or equivalent in Ecology, Environmental Science, Conservation or related discipline.
• Significant professional experience as Ecologist/Senior Ecologist.
• Strong knowledge of UK ecology and biodiversity legislation.
• Experience providing ecological advice within local authority/planning environment.
• Good understanding of Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) and its application in planning.
• Experience reviewing ecological surveys and mitigation proposals.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently in remote/hybrid environment.
• CIEEM membership or working towards membership advantageous.

Responsabilidades

• Provide specialist ecological advice to support planning applications, development proposals and other council projects.
• Review ecological surveys, assessments, reports and mitigation strategies.
• Advise on biodiversity, nature conservation and protected species matters.
• Assess the ecological implications of planning proposals and provide clear recommendations.
• Support delivery of biodiversity net gain and habitat enhancement requirements.
• Liaise with planning officers, developers, consultants, landowners and other stakeholders.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of ecological policies, guidance and procedures.
• Provide professional advice on environmental legislation, regulations and best practice.
• Help ensure ecological considerations are incorporated into development and land management decisions.
