Job summary

Wessex Ecology Ltd is seeking an Ecologist to lead ecological projects in Aylesbury, England. This role involves managing projects from start to finish, mentoring junior staff, and engaging with clients. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years' consultancy experience and a strong understanding of biodiversity metrics.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years' post-graduate consultancy experience.
• Membership or willingness to achieve membership of CIEEM.
• Confident with BNG assessments and biodiversity metric calculations.
• Competence in GIS (QGIS).
• Strong report-writing and communication skills.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver Preliminary Ecological Appraisals.
• Support EcIA and EIA chapters, and protected species surveys.
• Produce BNG metrics and HMMPs.
• Provide technical QA and sign-off on survey reports.
• Mentor and supervise junior team members.
• Contribute to tenders and fee proposals.
