Wessex Ecology Ltd., based in Tidworth, is seeking a dedicated Ecologist for a permanent, full-time role. The successful candidate will lead ecological projects, manage junior staff, and liaise with clients. Responsibilities include conducting ecological appraisals and supporting environmental assessments.

Ideal candidates will possess a minimum of 3 years' consultancy experience and demonstrate strong competencies in BNG assessments, GIS, and report writing. The position offers a hybrid work model along with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years' post-graduate consultancy experience.
• Membership or willingness to achieve membership of CIEEM.
• Confident with BNG assessments and biodiversity metric calculations.
• Competence in GIS (QGIS).
• Strong report-writing and communication skills.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver Preliminary Ecological Appraisals.
• Support EcIA and EIA chapters.
• Provide technical QA and sign-off on survey reports.
• Support junior team members.
• Contribute to tenders and fee proposals.

Skills

Confidence with BNG assessments

Strong report-writing skills

Experience with GIS (QGIS)

Communication skills

Valid UK driving licence

Education
