Does this resonate with you? If so we want to hear from you. We are currently looking to recruit a Senior Ecological Consultant to our team and we offer a variety of perks and benefits to ensure the well-being of the team. Salary from £33-£42k.

The Role:

Working within the team, you will be responsible for undertaking a range of field survey work, preparing plans, reports and technical documents for architects, planning consultants, developers, and land managers.

You will be involved in all areas of work, including:

  • Leading and managing ecological surveys and assessments, including PEA, BNG, protected species surveys, and ecological impact assessments (EcIAs).
  • Providing expert advice and guidance to clients on ecological matters, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and best practice.
  • Developing and implementing mitigation and enhancement strategies to minimise ecological impacts and deliver biodiversity net gain.
  • Prepare high-quality ecological reports and technical documents.
  • Mentoring and supporting assistant ecologists, evolving the collaborative and supportive team environment.
  • Project management, including budget control, scheduling, and client management.
  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships and communication with clients, stakeholders, and local authorities.

Requirements:

  • Proven ecological experience in delivering a range of surveys and reports for at least 3-5 years.
  • An understanding of ecological consultancy and a passion for the natural environment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of UK habitat and protected species legislation and survey methodologies.
  • Good botanical identification skills, preferably FISC level 3 or above.
  • Experience in preparing EcIAs and preparing planning applications.
  • Excellent report writing and communication skills.
  • A full UK driving licence and your own car are essential as travelling is an integral part of the role.
  • Class 1 bat or Class 1 great crested newt licence preferred
  • Proficient use of MS Office (Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Excellent verbal & written communication and attention to detail.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to multi-task and ability to use your own initiative.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality.
