University Hospitals Of Leicester Nhs Trust in Glenfield Hospital is seeking experienced Senior Adult Intensive Care Medicine Fellows with a specialist interest in severe respiratory failure and ECMO. You will join a leading cardio-thoracic ICU with a national reputation for ECMO and a strong focus on education and research.

The role covers ECMO management, critical care transport by air and road, advanced ventilatory strategies, and hands-on training through a dedicated ECMO course.

Qualifications

• ICM trainees with completed intermediate level training in adult intensive care medicine.
• Interest in managing severe respiratory failure and ECMO in a cardio-respiratory ICU.
• Experience in transport of critically ill patients by air or road.

Responsibilities

• Air and road transport of patients with severe respiratory failure including mobile ECMO.
• Initiation and ongoing management of patients on VV-ECMO and VA-ECMO.
• Perform echocardiography and lung ultrasound; manage complex ICU patients.
• Advanced ventilatory techniques including prone positioning and nitric oxide.
• Invasive procedures: cannulation/decannulation, bronchoscopy, central lines.
• Participation in audit, research, and teaching with ECMO-focused projects.
