Job summary

NUVIA UK is seeking a Senior EC&I Designer to support EC&I activities and CAD deliverables within a nuclear-focused engineering environment. The role involves producing detailed EC&I designs, maintaining as-built status, and ensuring quality controls in line with official procedures.

Remote work is available with hybrid travel; BPSS basic clearance is required. Applicants should have an HNC EC&I and extensive EC&I design experience in nuclear settings.

Qualifications

• Experience designing EC&I systems, preferably in a nuclear context.
• Extensive experience drawing EC&I related systems.
• AutoCAD experience.
• Be able to demonstrate knowledge required in technical design development.
• Sound understanding of engineering design and safety practice.
• Familiar with company design, health & safety and quality procedures.
• Working knowledge of engineering computer applications.
• HNC EC&I Engineering related discipline.

Responsibilities

• Deliver EC&I activities to the required scope, quality, schedule and cost.
• CAD aspects of EC&I work packages, producing detailed design drawings and updating them to as-built status.
• Ensure Quality Management Arrangements per Babcock’s system and manuals.
• Maintain appropriate records and apply configuration/quality controls.
• Communicate risk assessments and ensure staff/contractors understand hazards and risks.

BPSS clearance will be required at basic level. Prior clearance will not be transferrable.

Principal Accountabilities:

• The primary purpose of the role is to ultimately assist and support the Design Manager in the delivery of project scope. This will include the likes of the following:
• To undertake the delivery of EC&I activities to the required scope, quality, schedule and cost.
• Responsible for CAD aspects of the EC&I work packages, including producing detailed design drawings and updating them to as-built status.
• Ensuring effective Quality Management Arrangements, operate and deliver through compliance with Babcock’s Business Management System and Technical Manual.
• Support ensuring that the processes and activities being undertaken are appropriately documented with appropriate records maintained and configuration and quality controls applied.
• Support ensuring that staff and contractors are familiar with the hazards and risks associated with the work undertaken by the delegated engineering team through effective management and communication of the Risk Assessment.

Profile

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience:

• Experience of designing EC&I systems, preferably in a nuclear context.
• Extensive experience drawing EC&I related systems.
• AutoCAD experience.
• Be able to demonstrate relevant knowledge and skills required in technical design development.
• Sound understanding of engineering design and safety practice as relevant to discipline, post and project requirements.
• Sound understanding of Company and departmental procedures relating to Design, Health & Safety and Quality requirements, and ability to manage tasks in accordance with these procedures.
• Working knowledge of relevant engineering computer applications.
• The candidate will have a HNC EC&I Engineering related discipline.
