Job summary

NUVIA UK, a VINCI Construction subsidiary, is seeking an EC&I engineer contractor to support the Design Manager in delivering EC&I scopes for nuclear projects in Plymouth. The role includes updating drawings and documentation from detailed design to as-built status and performing inspections to ensure compliance with reference designs.

The candidate should have experience designing EC&I systems, be familiar with as-built surveys, and hold a degree in EC&I Engineering; Chartered status is

Qualifications

  • Experience designing EC&I systems, preferably in a nuclear context.
  • As-built experience including surveys and drawings.
  • Knowledge of technical design development and safety practices.
  • Understanding of company procedures for Design, Health & Safety and Quality.
  • Able to use engineering computer applications.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver EC&I work packages to scope, quality, schedule and cost.
  • Update documentation and drawings from detailed design to as-built status.
  • Undertake inspections and surveys of EC&I systems for compliance.
  • Ensure quality management and record-keeping per internal manuals.
  • Convey risk and hazards to staff/contractors with effective communication.
  • Support adherence to configuration and quality control processes.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • The primary purpose of the role is to ultimately assist and support the Design Manager in the delivery of project scope. This will include the likes of the following:
  • To undertake the delivery of EC&I activities to the required scope, quality, schedule and cost.
  • Responsible for technical aspects of the EC&I work packages, specifically updating documentation and drawings from detailed design to as-built status.
  • Undertake inspection and surveys of EC&I systems to ensure compliance with manufacturing drawings and the reference design.
  • Ensuring effective Quality Management Arrangements, operate and deliver through compliance with Babcock's Business Management System and Technical Manual.
  • Support ensuring that the processes and activities being undertaken are appropriately documented with appropriate records maintained and configuration and quality controls applied.
  • Support ensuring that staff and contractors are familiar with the hazards and risks associated with the work undertaken by the delegated engineering team through effective management and communication of the Risk Assessment.
Profile

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience:

  • Experience of designing EC&I systems, preferably in a nuclear context.
  • As-built experience, including surveys and as-built drawings.
  • Be able to demonstrate relevant knowledge and skills required in technical design development.
  • Sound understanding of engineering design and safety practice as relevant to discipline, post and project requirements.
  • Sound understanding of Company and departmental procedures relating to Design, Health & Safety and Quality requirements, and ability to manage tasks in accordance with these procedures.
  • Working knowledge of relevant engineering computer applications.
  • The candidate will have a degree or equivalent in a EC&I Engineering related discipline.
  • Preferably working towards Chartered Engineer status and member of relevant institute.
