Job summary

Freedom is seeking a Senior Design Engineer (Earthing) to deliver EHV/HV earthing design projects in the UK and internationally. You will be home-based with hybrid attendance at Freedom or NG Bailey offices, and travel to client sites with overnight stays as required.

The role requires leadership of technically demanding projects, mentoring junior engineers, and strong client communication. UK driving licence and CSCS are desirable traits; 3D CAD and CDEGS proficiency are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Electrical Engineering with good industrial experience at Earthing Design Engineer level.
• Knowledge of 3D CAD.
• CSCS Card holder – Desirable.
• Full UK Driving license.

Responsibilities

• Manage and lead with delivering technically demanding projects.
• Lead all types of earthing projects from inception to completion unaided, ensuring cost effectiveness and on-time delivery.
• Maintain strong client relationships with clear written and verbal communication.
• Mentor and provide guidance to Design, Assistant and Graduate Engineers.
• Apply detailed knowledge of high voltage earthing design and CDEGS software (MALZ, MALT, RESAP).
• Conduct studies in CDEGS (HI-FREQ, FCDIST, TRALIN) and perform advanced assessments as needed.
• Attend design team meetings with clients via Teams or in person.
• Provide engineering solutions to site-based problems through TQ/RFI processes.
• Review/authorise earthing reports and drawings to a high standard, with constructive feedback.
• Confidently conduct, supervise and demonstrate site visits for earthing assessments, design commissioning and investigations.
