Job summary

Barclays in London seeks a Senior eTrading Developer to build a brand-new electronic trading platform from the ground up. You will work directly with traders to design, implement and launch fast, reliable systems for the trading floor.

The role demands 10+ years in software engineering, predominantly in Java, Spring, and containerised deployments. You will operate in a hybrid Barclays environment with close collaboration across tech and business teams to deliver a multi-year rebuild with

Qualifications

10+ years of professional software engineering experience, focused on low-latency Java.
Deep understanding of the Rates asset class and electronic trading.
Experience in Tier 1 bank or top-tier buy-side.
Strong Java, Spring, and modern deployment with containers/Kubernetes.
Excellent communication with traders to understand workflows and requirements.

Responsibilities

Greenfield build-out of the new Rates1 electronic trading stack.
Collaborate with traders to elicit requirements and translate them into deliverables.
Write latency-sensitive code operating in the millisecond-to-microsecond range.
Leverage containerized environments and high-performance databases for scale.
Drive multi-year rebuild with consistent delivery of high-quality software.
